Dr. Jeffrey Kerst

Dr. Jeffrey Kerst is a 2019 graduate of LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans, where he graduated with honors in Leadership and received the Louisiana Dental Association's Outstanding Senior Dental Student Award. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology, Magna Cum Laude, at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He holds Louisiana Dental License #6988.
Dr. Kerst is a Director of The Pankey Institute and a Platinum Alumnus, having completed the Institute's full multi-year continuing education curriculum. In 2024, he earned the Pankey Institute's Mastery in Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry - a recognition awarded to dentists who complete advanced postgraduate coursework in comprehensive examination, occlusion, and aesthetic case design. The Pankey Institute, founded in 1972 in Key Biscayne, Florida, is one of the most respected advanced dental education organizations in North America.
Dr. Kerst is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the International College of Dentists - three of the dental profession's most established honor societies. He serves as a Director on the Board of the Louisiana Dental Association.
Dr. Kerst speaks nationally to dental students and early-career dentists on aesthetic dentistry, TMJ disorders, occlusion (the science of how teeth fit together), leadership, practice growth, and the ethics of business in dentistry. Clinically, his focus is comprehensive care, occlusion-based restorative dentistry, porcelain veneers, dental implants (restorative phase), TMJ treatment, and sleep apnea oral appliance therapy.
Dr. Kerst is married to Dr. Allison Haynie Kerst, a board-certified orthodontist who practices in the same building at Kerst Orthodontics. They have three sons: Robert, Truman, and Vincent. Dr. Kerst grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Outside the practice he is active in the Rotary Club of Shreveport, Boy Scouts of America, and Holy Angels. Dr. Kerst is a member of the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans.Fun Fact: Dr. Kerst spent four years as an NCAA / NISOA collegiate soccer referee and officiated three major championship matches.
Dr. Gary Caskey

Dr. Gary Caskey is a 1983 graduate of LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Captain Shreve High School and Louisiana Tech University. He holds Louisiana Dental License #3814 and is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Dr. Caskey served as a Director on the Board of the Louisiana Dental Association and spent over two decades on the editorial board of the Louisiana Dental Association Journal. He has been a member of the American Dental Association throughout his career and has advocated for patients at the state level. Since entering private practice in 1983, Dr. Caskey has provided dental care to families across the Shreveport, Bossier City, and Ark-La-Tex region.
Clinically, Dr. Caskey's focus is family dentistry, restorative dentistry, and comprehensive examination. He treats each patient with the goal of long-term oral health and the same standard of care he would provide a family member.
Dr. Caskey is a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, where he plays trumpet in the church band and in private ensembles. Outside the practice he enjoys weight training, scuba diving, and flying as a licensed general aviation pilot.
Fun Fact: Dr. Caskey has piloted his own plane as far east as Key West and as far west as Anchorage, Alaska.Our Approach to Comprehensive Care
Kerst & Caskey practices comprehensive, Pankey-style dentistry. Every new patient visit includes a full examination of the teeth, gums, bite (occlusion), jaw joints, and existing dental work as one connected system. Treatment is planned over time, not tooth by tooth, and patients leave each visit with a clear understanding of what was found, what's optional, what's recommended, and why.
The practice is fee-for-service and out-of-network with dental insurance. Claims are filed on the patient's behalf as a courtesy, and most PPO plans reimburse a portion of the visit directly to the patient. For patients without dental insurance, the practice offers an in-house annual membership plan that includes two cleanings, four exams, all annual radiographs, and oral cancer screening.
The practice uses FDA-cleared AI-assisted radiograph analysis through Overjet, EMS Airflow Guided Biofilm Therapy for cleanings, and digital smile design for veneers and restorative cases. Dr. Kerst coordinates implant surgical placement with trusted local oral surgeons and periodontists; the restorative phase is performed in-office.
